Problem:

Server fails to start and reports the following errors:

JES000011E Batch Spool File Error; Status Open I/O 9/009

CASSI9012E JCL support failed to start. Error returned from casspool, RC=0012

Resolution:

This problem usually occurs when the System Directory specified in the server's general properties does not exist or is not accessible. You need to make sure a valid system directory is specified.

Another possible cause is when the system catalog and default dataset locations are on a network drive and where the MFDS service was started by the system local account. You may instead use locations on the local drive.
