Problem:
When installing SQL Option software, the XDB Server name is derived from the Windows Full Computer (i.e. machine) Name.
XDB does not support Server names starting with numeric characters. Within Mainframe Express 3.0, the installation process does not resolve this. This can lead to N300 errors on connection using the TCP/IP protocol, or N511 errors when using the Win32Local mechanism, if your computer name starts with numeric characters.
Resolution:
If your computer name starts with numeric characters, there is a correction available by contacting Micro Focus SupportLine. The replacement file, SETUP.INS, should be overlaid over a copy of the existing installation image from the media you purchased, within the MFSQL directory.
The installation will then proceed correctly.
