Problem:
Message: CASCF0039S casstart: Configuration error, region () files directory invalid.
Resolution:
This message relates to the directory specified in the CASROOT environment variable, which defines the directory where Enterprise Server will write certain log files, such as log.html, TXTDNR, etc.
This is defined at installation time, and either uses the default value (var/mfcobol/es), or the value supplied by the person installing the product.
If the directory named in CASROOT is not writeable by the user ID under which Enterprise Server is running (usually mfuser) then it cannot write these log files, and the region will not start.
To resolve the problem you must edit the file cas.cfg in the directory $COBDIR/etc/cas, and provide a writeable directory for CASROOT. Within this directory Enterprise Server will create a sub-directory with the same name as the ES region, and store its log files there.
