Upgrading to 3.0 with an existing hotfix Compatibility Addpack installed fails to notify user to remove it

Problem:

You will NOT be prompted to uninstall the AddPack prior to upgrading to 3.0.

This issue happens if you have installed products from VC/ED stack, releases 2.3 or 2.3.1 or 2.3.2, with an appropriate hotfix as well as the Compatibility AddPack corresponding to the HotFix applied.

Resolution:

You should uninstall the AddPack from Add/Remove Programs (Programs and Features) before subsequently upgrading to VC/ED 3.0:

(If you have any of the “base” releases of the Compatibility AddPack installed (regardless of HotFixes), you should see a message when upgrading to 3.0 which tells you to remove the AddPack (as above)).
