This article describes how to configure Enterprise Server Administration for use with Network Address Translation.
Problem:
When accessing a server across network boundaries, Network Address Translation (NAT) issues may interfere with the proper functionality of the Enterprise Server Administration GUI. The most common problem is a ‘web page not found’ error when attempting to access Enterprise Server Monitoring & Control (ESMAC), or when attempting to return to the Enterprise Server Admin Home page from ESMAC. How is this resolved?
Resolution:
Set the environment variable MFDS_DNS_RESOLVE=Y. This must be done at the system level, prior to starting Micro Focus Directory Server (MFDS). For Windows, it may be set via System Properties > Advanced > Environment Variables. For UNIX, it may be set as part of the script used to start MFDS. Additionally, Enterprise Server listeners should be modified to use the machine name (host name) of the machine running Enterprise Server. Use only the host name, not hostname.domain name.
