Problem:
We're in the process of planning a z/OS V1R9 upgrade and are checking on compatibilities of our ISV software with this version of the operating system. We currently are running MicroFocus APS for z/OS V5.0 and MicroFocus Mainframe Access V3.0 and would like to know if either product needs upgrading or maintenance in order to run under z/OS V1R9?
Resolution:
You should be OK with this planned upgrade to z/OS 1.9. The products do not have any licensing or hooks into the OS version so there should be no impact after this upgrade. We have several customers that have reported moving to z/OS 1.9 and we have no reported problems. We do have a newer MFA release available which is available on the website and we recommend making plans to upgrade to the newest release but again, we have customers using MFA 3.0 with many version of z/OS and expect no problems.
