I have an AS/400 CL program that copies a bunch of production data to a test library. When that process is done, I would like to have the RUMBA Batch Transfer I set up transfer the data from the iSeries to the .CSV files on a Windows network server. But I am trying to do this with only one manual (or scheduled) step.

We are trying to do this so either: 1.) The IBMi job scheduler kicks off my CL program and when that is done it initiates the RUMBA batch transfer. - or - 2.) The Windows task scheduler somehow runs my CL program and when that is done it initiates the RUMBA batch transfer.

I realize we could schedule the two events separately (CL program on the iSeries Job Scheduler and RUMBA batch transfer on Windows Scheduler), but the RUMBA transfer is dependent on the CL program.  So, we would like one control point to launch these two actions.

I'm not sure if this is possible, but figured I would throw it out here to see if anyone had any ideas. Thanks.

Hi Ray,

you should be able to do either. Assuming you have now a Batch File Transfer settings file which will automatically execute the download and close gracefully.

The easier option is to control this from the PC. You will need a Rumba script to open your Rumba session log you in and execute your CL program, then you can use the STRPCO terminal command to start PC Organizer one the host and subsequently you can run the terminal command STRPCCMD with the command line your wish to execute.

Note: The syntax of the command line might vary slightly if you depending on the versions of Rumba you are using, .e.g. you may need to use DOS 8.3 name formats, or use double quotes if there are spaces in the command line etc..

If you need assistance then you should contact Customer Support.
