All,

Hope someone can help answer this.

1. Can I connect to different versions of Rumba Desktop (v 9.5, v10.2) from .NET application for automation? I could not find a way to connect to the Rumba desktop from a .Net application. If it is possible, how can I do it

2. If I use RDE.Net (from v10.2) , then I believe I can use the .Net Control (Mainframe display) and not have to connect to the desktop version. But this will still require Rumba Desktop to be installed on the machine where we are running the application.

3. Also, when running a RDE.Net (v10.2) application in a system which has Rumba 9.5, the Macros folder always throws null exception. For some reason, both the below lines returns always null. Tried various combinations of .Net FW, .Net core, x86, x64 etc.,

IRDEMacro _macro = mfDisplay.IMainframeDisplay.IRDEMacro;
IRDEMacro _macro2 = mfDisplay.IRDEDisplay.IRDEMacro;

I think the question on 3 is, if I use RDE.Net from v10.2, do I need Rumba Desktop 10.2 for it to work with Macros properly and is it not backward compatible with 9.5 desktop installation?

Thanks!

Hello Karun,

1 and 2. The version of the Rumba Development Environment (RDE) you use to develop your application must match the version of Rumba+ Desktop installed on the client machine where you intend to run the application.

3. During installation, we register the versions of the ActiveX (COM) interfaces. In RDE 10.2, we utilized the latest version of the Rumba+ Desktop mainframe display control (version 20), which is not available in Rumba 9.5.
