Hi guys,

I am very new to this. I've worked in RUMBA for years but this is my first attempt at creating something like this. First I need to know if it is even possible to extract data from RUMBA to Excel 2010? I'm a financial analyst so coding is not my trade..

Basically, I want to be able to run a macro or hit a refresh button (like in pivot tables) to refresh data like on an Income Statement or Balance Sheet, instead of copying and pasting the data from RUMBA to EXCEL. Can anyone help with that? or has any experience and can point me in the right direction?

There are several easy ways to address your issue.  With the new RUMBA interface (version 9 and greater), you can easily create a button that initiates this process similar to what you describe.  Advanced programming skills are not necessary.

There are several options to get too and from Excel.  Within RUMBA, there is an "Office Tools Menu".  This copies either the full screen or Clipboard to an Excel spreadheet.

Within a RUMBA Macro, you can directly access Excel spreadsheets.  You will need to use the Macro editor to insert these commands into a RUMBA Macro.  The "Copy From" command will read information from Excel and place it into RUMBA.  The "Paste To" command extracts data from RUMBA and copies it to Excel.

If you'd like to see those various options in action, please call the Micro Focus offices at 248-824-1709, or drop me an email to arrange a session.
