Situation

This technical note explains how to uninstall EXTRA! X-treme.

Resolution

To uninstall EXTRA! X-treme, follow these steps.

  1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. Select EXTRA! X-treme.
  4. Click Change/Remove and then click Yes.

Manually Removing All Product References

When EXTRA! X-treme is uninstalled, some files and registry keys are retained, in case the user wishes to reinstall at a later time and retain their original product settings.

To perform a comprehensive uninstall, which removes all references to EXTRA! from the machine, including sessions files, macros, and schemes, follow these steps.

  • These steps should only be taken if necessary. Contact your system administrator or Attachmate Technical Support if you have any questions regarding the following steps.
  • These instructions should be carried out by a user with Administrative rights to the PC and who is familiar with registry manipulation tools.  Proceed with extreme caution when editing the Windows Registry and use the Registry Editor at your own risk.  It is critical to back up the Registry before you proceed.   1. Click Start > Run.
  2. In the Open field, enter regedit, and then click OK.
  3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE.
  4. If there are multiple Attachmate products installed on this machine, open the Attachmate folder (key) and delete the product specific subfolder. If only one Attachmate product was installed, delete the Attachmate folder.
  5. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\SOFTWARE.
  6. If there are multiple Attachmate products installed on this machine, open the Attachmate folder (key) and delete the product specific subfolder. If only one Attachmate product was installed, delete the Attachmate folder.
  7. Exit the Windows registry.
  8. Navigate to C:\\Program Files and delete the appropriate Attachmate product folders.
    Note: By deleting this folder, you are deleting all session, macro, and scheme files.
  9. If present, delete the appropriate program group from the Start Menu.
  10. Delete any desktop shortcuts.
