I've few programs written in VB6 which are using Rumba 9.3 to do screen scrape , these programs are running on Windows Server 2003 in production. Now we're moving to Windows Server 2016 and are thinking to migrate to Rumba's more current version because of Rumba 9.3 End of Service LifeCycle May 31,2018.
I have few questions -
- Which version of Rumba is compatible with windows Server 2016 and does it require to install on production server ?
- What do I need to install on my Development machine to work with Rumba ( may be 9.5.1 SP1) ? I'm using ObjectXMFDisplay Control ( WdMfDsp.Tlb) and few of its methods like Getscreen, SendKeys etc.Currently I've Rumba Desktop 9.3.0 installed on my machine.
Please let me know if you need more information. Thanks and hoping to get some direction.
#RumbaThank you for your reply ndre. Could you please tell me what Rumba License model is require for Server usage ?

#RumbaThere are differnt models and options availabe ( authorized / concurrent /server/...) . It depends on the usage .
Best would be to consult your sales representative in your region or contact the supportline . The supportline can point you to the right sales representative.

#RumbaHello ,
I am working on an application which is written in VB6 and using rumba 9.3 to communicate with IBM Mainframe 3270. I'm having some difficulty to understand the code that I'm supporting for any production issue and also I have to migrate VB6 to VB.NET/ C# in near future and leverage RDE.NET.
I am not able to understand any of the arguments used in SendKeys method of ObjectXMFDisplay. Please guide what are they and if needed where I can find more information about them. I know that we are using this method to send text to 3270 but don't know what they mean.
My question is how to interpret the arguments used in SendKeys method. Please guide.

#RumbaHi brainysaki
Just to clarify, the SendKeys method sends keys to the Display terminals presentation space and not directly to the host. The is a subtle difference, the string that you send will only be sent to the host when the terminal receives an aid key such as <Enter> or <PF8> etc.
I'm guessing it's the @... which you are struggling to figure out. These are keyboard mnemonics and are used to send the nonalpha numeric keys.

#RumbaThank you this really helped. Now I know what @0 and @E means. I am going through the code and found this line of code and I think cpsw and chpw is some keyword but don't know what exactly they are, do you have any idea ?

#RumbaHi brainysaki,
my reading of that SendKeys string is that is sends the following
<Home> 'Moves the cursor to the Home position, normally the first cursor position in the first input field
"cpsw rf,025,chpw" 'It types that string on the screen (without out the double quotes :-)
<Enter> 'Presses the Enter key to send the screen to the host.
to the "cpsw" and "chpw" will be interpreted by the host after the <Enter> key sends the screen to the host.
