Using Rocket TE VT v10.2.1.4761, I do not have hotspots enabled at all.  However, whenever I type a long string of numbers with a minus sign or a dot in the middle, the emulator displays it as "xxxxxxxxxx".  For example "1234567890-1234567890" displays as "1234567XXXXXXX4567890".

How do I disable this?

Hi Jeff,

are you using RTE Web or Desktop?

The effect you are describing looks like the reduction/Data masking functionality that is available in both Web and Desktop to protect sensitive information. Have you enabled that feature?

Regards,

Harald

Yes, Leonard Jacobs guided me in that direction.  Unfortunately, "Data Masking" or "Auto Redaction" is not a "setting" that can be changed easily.  It is not inside any of Rocket TE's menus and settings.  Rather, you have to "know" to go to "C:\\Program Files\\ BlueZone\\10.2\\global.ini" and make sure the following sections look something like this (see below).  The problem with this is that many users in an office environment using a work PC do not have access to modify things in Program Files.

[PCI-DSS]
;Common setting
UseMask=No
MaskClip=No
MaskApi=No
MaskChar=X

;PAN Number
MaskPANs=No
MaskPANsPortionType=0

;Custom expression settings for data masking
MaskCustom=No
;SimpleRule1=###-##-####
;SimpleRule2=(###) ###
;SimpleRule3=###-###
;SimpleRule4=@###-###-##-###-#
;SimpleRule5=@###-####-####
;SimpleRule6=### ### ###

Hi Jeff,

This feature was designed to be configurable only by administrators who deploy Rocket TE. It is not available as a GUI option that can be toggled as this could create a compliance issue for some companies. Please discuss the need for removing the redacting from your TE installation with your IT administrators.

Best regards,

Vlad
