Several users have complained of the printing process being hung up in the queue. The "print using windows default printer" is selected and they are connected to the correct printer. Other applications are printing fine. Is there an obvious solution to this that I am missing?

This reminds me something a long time ago when an IP printer was shared between the mainframe and the local desktop PCs.   If one side (for example the mainframe) had an IP session established to the printer.  The printer was not able to answer session requests from the other devices.  Eventually, when printing is finished and the IP session is closed, the other devices could get their print accomplished.
PC output would sit in the windows queue until the target printer was free for use.  Â
[BTW - say hi to my old home town of Peoria]
