Rocket TE (Web Edition) is the terminal emulation solution, with green screen UI, that can be used on any modern HTML compatible web browser on any machine from any where. You can find more details here

Rocket LegaSuite develops rich web and mobile user experiences for host-based applications, increasing user satisfaction, in the form of web UI.

In short, Rocket LegaSuite turns your green screen into a web-enabled application with many features, whereas Rocket TE (Web Edition) is the terminal emulator.

RTE Desktop and RTE Web are different licensed products, both with their own use cases. If you are interested in having additional flexibility you could consider a RTE Anywhere license that allows you to switch between the two editions anytime.

It is included in your current maintenance. You can upgrade from any Rocket Terminal Emulation solution (BlueZone, Passport, HostFront, WebConnect) to Rocket Terminal Emulator without paying additional license fees. There could be associated Professional Services to help you with the migration.

Q14: Is your demo setup a thin tier client or 3-tier setup?

------------------------------
Dave Andrews
Head of Customer Engagement
Rocket Software
[Phone]
------------------------------

The demo environment is using Rocket Terminal Emulator (Web Edition) where server is hosted on a windows machine. After server installation for the administrator, end user can use the Rocket Terminal Emulator on any HTML5 compatible browser on any machine by connecting to the server.

Rocket Terminal Emulator (Web Edition) would be considered 3-tier and the client is pure HTML5/JavaScript so there is no install footprint on the client machine.

Q16: Does the Rocket Terminal Emulator (Web Edition) support load balancing and high availability?

------------------------------
Dave Andrews
Head of Customer Engagement
Rocket Software
[Phone]
------------------------------

We don't have High Availability with Rocket Terminal Emulator (Web Edition) but we are exploring that as part of future enhancement.

Possible workaround High Availability solution could involve completely installing and configuring the Rocket TE (Web Edition), and then duplicating to other server(s) under a load balancer. You can run Rocket TE (Web Edition) on one single node for a period of time. Following that, you can set up the other node(s), copy all the data, and turn off permission to customize session settings. In Rocket TE (Web Edition), configuration option for this are available in the web interface.

The web product can be configured to run on more than one server with a master/slave configuration. The master stores the profiles, etc. and the slave uses the master database, etc.

Q18: Could we have a single administrator manage the additions or deletions of users?

------------------------------
Dave Andrews
Head of Customer Engagement
Rocket Software
[Phone]
------------------------------

Yes, single or multiple administrators can manage the addition or deletion of end users. Administrators can also manage user authentication, user settings, session settings, etc. This centralized administration is available in both Desktop and Web Editions of Rocket Terminal Emulator.

There is also an option for Desktop Edition licensed user to install it only on their own machine without central administrator managing it, just like any regular software application, where the configuration is controlled locally.

Q19: Does the end user require admin authority on their PC to install Rocket Terminal Emulator?

------------------------------
Dave Andrews
Head of Customer Engagement
Rocket Software
[Phone]
------------------------------

It depends on your IT environment.

If you are installing Desktop Edition on your machine, like any other software application, and your IT settings require your company's IT administrator permission, you would require admin rights to install it.

If you are using Web Edition, there is no additional permission required as you are using it on your browser.

You can do all of that through Rocket Terminal Emulator. You can create customized URLs and open the mainframe window. A central Administration Console can help you with setting up those settings for all the end users.
