Rumba client API file names.

Problem:

This KB article contains information on the Rumba Client API DLL file names, and also how to change these names.

Resolution:

The standard Client API names are as follows:

Table 1. Client API file Names
API 32-bit 16-bit/16-bit thunking
APPC WAPPC32.DLL APPC.DLL
Service Verbs WINCSV32.DLL ACSSVC.DLL
CPI-C WCPIC32.DLL CPIC.DLL
LUA (RUI) WINRUI32.DLL ACSRUI.DLL
Note: Thunking DLLs allow 16-bit applications to use the 32-bit client API.

Even though the names of the API DLLs are standard in the industry, there may be a need to use alternate names. A mechanism has been provided to enable the RUMBA SNA® Engine to recognize that an alternate DLL name is being used. You only need to rename the DLL for the particular API that you will be using.

Below is an example of how you could rename the API DLLs.

  1. Open the REGEDT32 program and add these new strings to the registry entries under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Walldata\\SNA:
    • AppcDllname "winappc.dll"
    • AcssvcDllName "wincsv.dll"
    • CpicDllName "wincpic.dll"
    • RuiDllName "winrui.dll"
