Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum but not to Rumba. Just recently, my company made version 8.1.0 available for install. After using v7.4 for the last several years, I figured v8 would have some improvements so I installed it.

I must say I'm disappointed. I don't understand why Rumba doesn't start with my last saved desktop; I have to open it manually each time I launch it. (Is there a way to do this? If yes, I haven't been able to find it.) Also, the program allows me to specify the path where my macros are stored but doesn't allow me to specify the path to where my desktop and session configurations are stored. The last thing that's really annoying is that the screen doesn't repaint if another application gets the focus and obscures all or part of the Rumba main window.

I never experienced any of these programs with v7.4; I wish I could go back to it but my company no longer makes it available. If anyone can offer me some help I would be most appreciative.

Thanks in advance…

Q1: I don't understand why Rumba doesn't start with my last saved desktop; I have to open it manually each time I launch it.

You probably are  launching Rumba desktop from the Start menu. You must click on the session profile in order to launch it directly.

Q2: doesn't allow me to specify the path to where my desktop and session configurations are stored.

You should be able to save the session to the location of your choice. Click on File -> Save session profile As option and then navigate to your preferred location and save the session profile. What do you mean by configuration files?

Q3: The last thing that's really annoying is that the screen doesn't repaint if another application gets the focus and obscures all or part of the Rumba main window.

This is a known Rumba 8.0  issue and has been fixed in the newer versions of Rumba. Please upgrade to the latest Rumba version 9.3 to correct this problem.
