This article describes how to address the error messages, runtime error 0 and 372 – vbalExplorerBarLib / vbalExplorerBarCtl

Problem:

When loading an existing or recent catalog you are presented with the following error:
Runtime error 0 – vbalExplorerBarLib
You may also see a subsequent error message:
Run-time error ‘372’: Failed to load control ‘vbalExplorerBarCtl’ from vbalexpbar6.ocx.

Resolution:

The error is displayed as either the vbalexpbar6.ocx or the dependent library, ssubtmr6.dll, is not registered correctly. To correct this issue, unregister and then register the objects as follows:


  1. Unregister both objects from the command prompt by issuing the following commands:
    Command 1:
    regsvr32 –u <Relativity install path>\\vbalexpbar6.ocx
    for example: "regsvr32 -u c:\\program files\\liant\\relativityv12\\vbalexpbar.6.ocx"
    Command 2:
    regsvr32 –u <Relativity install path>\\ssubtmr6.dll
    Messages should be displayed advising that the objects have been unregistered successfully.
  2. Register both objects from the command prompt by issuing the following commands:
    Command 1:
    regsvr32 <Relativity install path>\\vbalexpbar6.ocx
    for example: "regsvr32 c:\\program files\\liant\\relativityv12\\vbalexpbar.6.ocx"
    Command 2:
    regsvr32 –u <Relativity install path>\\ssubtmr6.dll
    Messages should be displayed advising that the objects have been unregistered successfully.
