This article explains how to do a trace of Rumba Web-to-Host Java client.

Problem:

How do you take a trace of the Rumba Web-To-Host Java client?

Resolution:

To take the trace:
  1. Modify the Java display profile to allow traces by going to the "Security" TAB and checking "Enable Tracing".
  2. Set the "Trace level" to be "5".
  3. Add the following custom parameter settings to the Java extension/HTML page:

  • EnableSessionTracing = true
  • EnableHostInterfaceTracing = true
  • EnableTraceControlButtons = true
  • SessionTraceFile = c:\\javatr.dh (subdirectory and name of DSA trace file)
  • HostInterfaceTraceFile = c:\\javaitr.txt (subdirectory and name of interface tracefile)

For example, you would write ''EnableSessionTracing'' in the Parameter Name column and ''true'' in the Value column.

To record the trace:
  1. Launch and connect W2H Java Client session.
  2. Click the record button (icon = red circle) on the Java client toolbar.
  3. Connect to the host system [UNIX, MF, AS/400].
  4. Navigate to the screen or reproduce the issue.
  5. Logout the session.
  6. Click the stop button (icon = black square) on the Java client toolbar.

Trace files will be created on the client PC per the SessionTraceFile and HostInterfaceTraceFile parameters configured at the time the Java extension/HTML page was created or edited. Once the traces have been created, go back to the Custom Parameters section of the Java extension configured through the Host Wizard, and remove the tracing information so that trace files will not continue to be created on the client PCs; or change the tracing values from ''true'' to ''false'' and re-save the Java extension.
