Hi All,

We use Rumba 9.1.0. I couldn't find any option for Script Editor there.

Since I am a beginner fro script writing, Can someone help me to find script editor to get started with my automation task.

My task : there are manual efforts involved to create registrations for policies. I want to automate this process by placing policies and other required details in excel sheet and create registrations reading data from excel sheet for n no. of times, where n is the no of policy required to be registered.

If you have any script for reference please suggest.

I really appreciate your help.

Thanks,

Ruchi

Hi Ruchi,

please note support for Rumba 9.1 ended in May 2016.

The script engine is a separate installer to the rumba.msi, you should contact the product owner within your organisation to see if he or she can supply you with a copy of the ScriptEngine.msi package.

Once you have the RUMBA Script Engine installed you should start the recorder and manually enter a registration, taking care to ensure that you don't make any mistakes in the registration entry. Once complete save your recorded script and then you can edit it replacing the strings which you manually typed in with variables.

The next step would be to test the script by setting the variables manually in the script and executing it. Once you are happy that the script works, then you can look at pulling your data from an Excel spreadsheet, using COM/OLE (there should be several samples of how to talk to Excel from Rumba script on this site, do a search for "EXCEL.Application").
