Error 1006 is displayed when running Web-to-Host sessions in IE 8.

Web-to-Host version 6.0 is the only version that is supported on Internet Explorer 8. However, you should be able to run version 5.3.2 and 5.3.1 in IE8 compatibility mode. Prior versions are not supported on IE8. To enable compatibility mode for the 5.3.x versions of W2H, follow these steps:

1. Open IE 8 and click on the Tools menu. Then select “Compatibility View Settings” option.
2. Type your Web-to-Host site in “Add the Web site” text box and press the Add button.
3. You should see your web site listed under “Websites you have added to compatibility View. Press Close button.

Type the following URL in the address bar to make sure that your web site was correctly added to the compatibility mode list:   

          res://iecompat.dll/iecompatdata.xml

Now you should be able to run Web-to-Host session without experiencing 1006 error.

Note: This information is provided as a temporary work around. Web-to-Host versions 5.3.1 and 5.3.2 are not officially supported on Internet Explorer 8. It is recommended that you upgrade to Web-to-Host version 6.0 as soon as possible, as this is the permanent solution.
