Good Afternoon,

This has never happened before when I compile my program in the IDE and there is an error, I am getting the following message:

Cannot highlight syntax errors.  The program was compiled with the editor (MF) directive.  The Editor (mf2) directive is needed for syntax highlighting.  The output window can be used to navigate the errors.

I exited out of the IDE and opened up a different project and I get the same error.

Any advice?

Thanks,

Bob

I have never heard of that particular error being displayed.

What it refers to is that the directive EDITOR(MF) is being set which does not allow for syntax errors to be marked in the source code with a red X.

In order to be able to mark the syntax errors in the source you need to set EDITOR(MF2) instead.

Look at the project properties under IDE?

What is the setting of the EDITOR directive?

Do you have a COBOL.DIR file that may have been modified that is being picked up by the build process?

If you are not specifically setting this directive somewhere then I would recommend that you try doing a repair on Net Express from Control Panel-->Programs as something may have become corrupt.

Good Afternoon Chris,

My IDE properties appear to be correct and I tried older projects that have always work fine.  Here are the IDE poperties:

%FILENAME COBIDY(%TARGETDIR) WB3 WB CSI ANIM EDITOR(MF2) ENSUITE(3) CONSTANT FILTYPE "ISAM";

There are no COBOL.DIR files on the disk.

I am running XP and I went to the Control Panel -> Programs and there does not appear to be a "Repair" for the Net Express program, there is only a "Change/Remove"

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Bob

Under XP click on Change and then you should get a dialog that will allow you to select to Repair.

Good Morning Chris,

There was no Change option, so I did the "Uninstall", but told the system to keep the License.  However, after re-installing the CD my License is corrupt and I do not have a Revoke code.

How should I proceed because I do not have a Revoke code?

Thanks,

Bob

Hi Bob,

Please open up a support incident and we will walk you through the process of resetting your license for Net Express.
