Clicking on compile error is producing cannot access message file

Problem:

Receiving a compilation error when trying to compile from within the IDE, click on compilation error

to bring up the offending program line and receiving message "cannot access message file".

Resolution:

Removing all the files from the debug directory and recompiling cleared the "cannot access message file" error.
