Problem:

When trying to use Cross-session animation to debug a COBOL program the user screen contains blanks or garbage as referenced below:

When this occurs, cobainmsrv process continues to run and animator does not return to the command prompt.

Resolution:

During installation of Server Express the sticky bit was configured. Removing the sticky bit resolved the issue and you show now be able to use cross-session animating. The sticky bit will also affect animating a COBOL program using one window. Sticky bits create havoc for Server Express. You should remove all sticky bits that in $COBDIR and all sub-directories/files. Also remove the sticky bits that are associated with the PATH where COBDIR is installed. Example: If the product is installed in /opt/microfocus/cobol, then make sure you remove the sticky bits (if set) in opt, microfocus and cobol.
