I am attempting to incorporate VB6 DLL's into my Netexpress 5.1 Microfocus Cobol.  Is this even possible and how the heck do I go about it.  Very confused at the moment.  Thanks.

Can you please be move specific? What is the major issue that you are experiencing?
What is it that you need to do, call COBOL from VB or call VB from COBOL or both?
Either one is possible but the methods would be different.

There are several articles and posts in this forum and knowledgebase that cover this topic, If you enter Visual Basic into the search bar on the top of this page you will see a number of links.
One of them is community.microfocus.com/.../demo-calling-cobol-from-visual-basic

Does this help at all?

I am trying to call a vb6 DLL from Cobol. I am new at trying this and all the explanations I have come across are kind of confusing. Kind hoping someone can dummy it down for me in a way. I am not dumb, but at the moment, feeling that way...

A VB6 .DLL is usually a COM Server which needs to be registered on a computer before it can be called. This would be called from a Net Express COBOL program using the OO-COBOL OLE class library support. This is covered in the NX docs and there are examples in the folder C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Micro Focus\\Net Express 5.1\\Examples\\Net Express IDE\\COMDEMOS. One that you might look at is the one to call the MS Word COB Server in the WORD folder.

There is a tool which can be launched from the NX IDE Tools menu called Type Library Assistant. If you use this and select your registered .DLL from the list you can generate the required COBOL code to call its methods.

There is also an example in the Visual COBOL forum that I helped another customer with at community.microfocus.com/.../7406
