hi all,

I am new to Microfocus Net Express 5.1 and have a problem I'm hoping you might be able to help me with:

I am animating a cobol program that perform a lot of DISPLAY statements which go into the application output screen. the problem is I can not control this screen size or buffer capacity, so I end up missing the display lines that are not visible (about 20 I reckon).

is there a way to make this window larger and scrollable?

thanks in advance
Juan Antonio

The environment variable COBSW with C4 and C5 change to 43/50 line mode... eg: COBSW= C5

This might help you..

Juan,

On the Project menu in the Net Express IDE select Properties... and on the dialog that is displayed click the Application... button. That brings up a dialog that allows you to configure the execution environment and on the Screen I/O tab you can select the console size. What that does is set the COBSW value for you as mentioned by Stephen in the previous post.

Hope that helps,

Gael.

thanks for the info, it works but unfortunatelly I still only see the last display lines and not the whole output, since it still lacks a scrolling capability.

thanks Gael, I was able to define a bigger screen (80x60), but unfortunatelly I still only see the last display lines and not the whole output, since it still lacks a scrolling capability.

Juan,

Unfortunately, in the version you are using, the run-time only maintains the number of lines that have been defined as your window size. It is not the same as a command prompt where you can use a large bugger size to provide scrolling.

However, I believe that a later version of the product does not restrict you in this way provided you are running a console application and only use ANSI ACCEPT and DISPLAY statements.
