Problem:

Installation terminates with "Internal Error 2908" message.

Resolution:

Internal 2908 error in NetExpress 5.0 indicates that a Micro Focus runtime environment was previously (or is currently) installed on the intended target machine for the NetExpress 5.0 installation.  Both runtime and NetExpress environments cannot be installed on the same physical machine.

Solution:  Remove any previous Micro Focus runtime installations (Application Server, Server for COBOL 5.0, etc.)

Locate any system registry keys containing "ASLMF"  (Under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry  hive) and delete them.  Reboot the system, then remove any Micro Focus folders that remain on the file system.  Reboot the system once more, then re-install NetExpress 5.0.
