I would like your help! I have the standard Apllication Server, as I used with Net Express 5.0, would you be wondering if I can take advantage of the Application Server that I have if I migrate to Visual Cobol?

Hi Allan,

When you recompile your Net Express application using the Visual COBOL compiler you will also have to upgrade your Application Server to the COBOL Server product. Just as the Application Server product provides the run-time support and licensing for Net Express applications, COBOL Server provides the run-time support and licensing for Visual COBOL applications. The two run-time systems are not interchangeable.

I would recommend that you check out our official statement regarding support for newer operating systems with Net Express/Server Express.  The only product being tested and certified against newer platforms and databases, etc. Is the Visual COBOL product. This may help in you decision process.
