Hello,

after upgrading my windows system to the newest build 25H2, the products Netexpress 5.0 or 5.1 have lost there license.

Is there a method to update to the new version without licensing trouble?

Thanks for help

Hi Claude,

As you know, Net Express is not certified on any operating systems above Windows 7. However, it should install and run as long as the correct installer is used and the latest update is applied.

It is a known issue that upgrading Windows or installing Windows major updates cause Net Express to fail to launch.

There is no workaround for the update problem but I can provide you with a license that you can install.

Follow the steps below:

Windows 10 Windows 11
  1. Go to Settings > Apps
  2. Select Micro Focus Net Express 5.1
  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps
  2. Click ... next to Micro Focus Net Express 5.1

  3. Select Modify
  4. Click Next
  5. Select Repair
  6. Click Install

Once the repair is complete, the license is reset to a temporary license of 30 days

  7. Launch Net Express
  8. Click Licensing
  9. Make note of the Request Key
10. Send the Request Key to me in a private message on this forum and I will send to you the Response Key
11. Enter the Response Key provided by me to activate the full license

It looks like you now have a 30-day timed license, but I have never seen the license screen show as blank before. Have you tried to reboot and start the license manager directly from the Start menu?

If this doesnt work you might try uninstalling and reinstalling NX and see if you can generate a request key after that.
