I'm new to the forum, so I hope I'm posting this properly. All has been working for years, went on vacation, came back and now this.
Looks like my server license file is okay on linux server side. Can stop, start, view etc. no errors.
However, the PC side gets the service not running messages. Have shutdown both sides, still no good.
Any suggestions?
I am assuming that this is occurring with the Server 5.1 product under Windows and not the Net Express development product.
If it is Net Express then this error almost always indicates that your COBDIR environment variable is not set correctly. If set it should point to the C:\\Program Files\\Micro Focus\\Net Express 5.1\\base\\bin folder.
If you are getting this error when running an application under the Server 5.1 environment then it usually means that the License Manager Service has not been started.
On the computer where the license database is installed, Start Administrative Tools-->Services and look for the Micro Focus License Manager service. Is it Started?
If it is present then try manually starting it.
If you are running the application on a computer on which Server 5.1 is NOT installed then ensure that the environment variable ASLMFNET is set to point to the license database installed on a different server.
Thanks.

Was able to finally fix just by doing a repair installation of NetExpress on my PC, under Add/Remove programs in the control panel. i did not have to enter any license, key info etc. Just did the repair.
