Has anyone successfully P2V'd their Micro Focus server using VMware ESXi 4.1? Everytime we have tried to P2V our server we get the blue screen of death. We are still running physical but want to convert to virtual. Is there a cookbook of instructions for migrating to a virtual server? If no cookbook, can anyone give us a hint as to what we are doing wrong? We shut down the Windows server before migrating but it appears we are missing something in the process.

Can you please provide more detail as to what Micro Focus product you are using?
Is this Application Server, Server for COBOL, Enterprise Server etc, and what version level?

What exactly are you trying to do and what is it that you are doing when you get the "blue screen of death"?

Thanks.

Sorry, Chris. I got pulled off onto other projects and am able to just now get back to this.

We are running Studio EE 6.0. I am not extremely familiar with the installation we have here as the company had a consulting firm install this for us a couple years ago and handed it to me on their way out. I'm not the one who originally tried to P2V this server so I don't know exactly what happened.

Is there a cookbook on how to P2V this server? I assume there will be license issues once we migrate from the physical server.

I know of no such document.

COBOL Licensing must be done after the server is virtualized to ensure that each copy is licensed appropriately. You should contact your Account Representative if you have additional questions regarding licensing in a virtual environment.
