Hello everyone,

after installing a recent Windows 11 update, my NE 5.1 license is no longer recognized. The software now behaves as if no valid license is installed. So far, I have already tried repairing the NE 5.1, but without success.  Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Georg,

From the Micro Focus Net Express 5.1 folder on the Windows Start menu open up the License Management System and see if you can generate a request key.

If you can, then leave the License Manager window open and private message me on this forum and provide that key to me and I will generate a response key that hopefully will relicense the product. Do not post the request key here.

Thanks

Hi, I’ve the same problem. After installing it on Windows 11, I had 10 days left in the trial period when, following a Windows update, the license was reported as corrupted.
DialogSystem and compiling seemed to be okay, In the Animating feature however, I couldn't change or view any data.

I will reset Windows and try again.

Hi Heinz-Dieter,
please refer to Chris’s reply and proceed in the same way.

I prefer a clean Windows with a fresh install of NetExpress. Debugging/animating without being able to change the data items doesn't make sense. Am I the only one with this problem?

Hi Heinz-Bernd,

Chris will give you the best recommendation for this.

This is a different problem than the licensing one.

Try the following:

  1. Close Net Express
  2. Open Start > Programs/All Apps > Micro Focus Net Express 5.1
  3. Right-click Net Express 32-Bit Command Prompt to run as administrator
  4. Click Yes from the Windows UAC prompt
  5. CD /D C:\Program Files (x86)\Micro Focus\Net Express 5.1\Base\Bin
  6. Regsvr32 VALUEEDITNX.OCX
  7. Start Net Express
  8. Debug and see if variable data editing is now possible
