Using the old WOWDataGrid.  Would like to use one that is a little more current.  We would like to move columns, sort columns, mouse wheel works in grid to scroll, and copy cell data to an Excel.  Does anyone have any suggestions on what control to look at.

Use the DBi Tech controls. We are using them and they are amazing.

Thank you.
I downloaded the trial versions and you are right. There is a lot of cool things in there. But unless I am missing something I could not find a grid control. I found the list box and the tree. Here again I really liked that list box. But I need to work with individual cells. Could not see how either one of these controls would let me do that.

Ok. To work with cells you need the ctGrid control; is probably maybe this control does not come with the trial version. My recomdation is that you buy the pack, is amazing. I can help you later can to use a lot of controls. It has solved our lives.

Hi
The Ctgrid control from Dbi works fine in Cobol Wow, you can edit any cell but you can't use formulas, move columns and export to excel. If you want to use formulas and export to excel I sugesst you to try Fpsrepad from www.grapecity.com/.../spread. Althought I never tried to move columns but this control has methods to to acomplish these.

Is very, very simple to save a ctGrid content in an Excel file (csv).

Hi

A couple of things to look out for . . . .

1) if running thin client, you want a grid that you can load data to in bulk. Loading several hundred rows via "AddItem" is very slow over a network, whereas a single block of multiple rows of data is LOADS faster.

2) Depending on whether this is an in house app or software that you sell, make sure that what you get is "Royalty Free" - you do not want to be buying new licences for each new customer!

We use the ComponentOne Flexgrid that did everything you mention and lots more. It did not do 1) above, so we ended up having to wrap it to acheive mutiple row input.

Cheers

Dear FRIENDS, in case this information about the use of Grid-type ActiveX controls helps. We use and distribute SPREAD from Grapecity on WOW and it is simply spectacular, 100% compatible, of course the COM version (www.grapecity.com/.../spreadstudio). There are versions for all kinds of development tools and platforms.
We have been using this solution for 17 years on WOW 3.1 since version 7 of RM / Cobol.
