We usually keep our indexed files small (< 8 GB) for various reasons. For a customer we are required to keep a lot of data and the indexed files will probably grow to about 50 GB. Does anyone have experience with using such large indexed files, esp. regarding number of records, data integrity, locking and reliability?

We are using the following environment:

  - RM/COBOL Runtime - Version 12.06 for Linux Intel 32-Bit
  - Linux *** 2.6.18-308.16.1.el5 #1 SMP Tue Sep 18 07:21:07 EDT 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
  - File system ext3
