Problem:

By default, RM/COBOL will only allow inputting 7-bit ASCII characters into a terminal ACCEPT field.  However, international characters, such as accented vowels, are only available in the 8-bit character encoding space.

Resolution:

In order to allow the inputting of 8-bit(extended international) characters in an RM/COBOL application, you will need to place the following configuration record into an RM/COBOL configuration file:

TERM-ATTR DATA-CHARACTERS=32,255

------------------

 **You can load an RM/COBOL configuration file using the C, or X, Runtime command line options, or, by naming the configuration file, "runcobol.cfg", and placing it in the same directory as the RM/COBOL Runtime executable(runcobol).
