I have below variable: 01 WS-KEY  05 WS-KEY1 PIC X(08).  05 WS-KEY2 PIC X(50). While trying to read WS-KEY against the file, I am getting file status code of 23 (which means that record is not present). However, when I checked the file, I can see the record. I am suspecting that the WS-KEY2 has junk value somewhere in it which might be leading status code of 23. How can I display the hexadecimal value of WS-KEY (or WS-KEY2 alone) to check if it has any junk value. I tried using HEX-OF function but I believe that may not be relevant for RM/COBOL.

To ensure that the RM license is valid, the RM products will perform a check with main RM license server. Once the license has been validated it is updated and access to the RM product can continue.What has been seen is that during this process that the RM license vault (the file is called license.vlt) is renamed to a .tmp file, but is not restored to the .vlt extension. Does anyone know how to define the <Document> tag in the stylesheet when it comes with the attribute <Document xmlns="urn:iso:std:iso:20022:tech:xsd:camt.054.001.08">. Hello, I'm a rookie of this forum. My name is Giovanni Di Chiara and I write from Italy. I don't know if my problem has already been detected before. I'm tried to use the library InstantSQL for connecting to a MS SQL server via ODBC driver. I use RMCobol for Windows. My Windows is a Windows 10 Pro. When I connect to databasesource and I pass ID and Password wrong, before of error return code on my program, it is opened in automatic there is a Error Messagebox of SQL server and then it opened  the Connection SQL Server Dialog Box. It is prossible to disable the "SQL Message Box" and the "Connection SQL Server Dialog". My program is a service the run on background with no User Interface, the errors I'd like to manage into my program. CodeBridge as a product was introduced to the RM/Cobol suite of products while there was only a 32-bit version of RM/Cobol. This meant that documentation only contained example command lines for compiling and linking within a 32-bit environment. As time progressed, a 64-bit version of RM/Cobol was released but the CodeBridge documentation was not updated to take account of changes required when compiling and linking a 64-bit application. Good Morning, I am using Visual COBOL 8.0 . Trying to compile program part of the remote Project(remote machine is linux 8.5) While compiling the Program for a specific program getting lot of compilation issue. I tried with both RM COBOL and Microfocus as COBOL Dialect but getting lot of compilation issue. Where as even i compiled few other programs with microfocus as cobol dialet and getting them successful. could you please let me know if any additional configuration setting needed for this... for example if you see the WS-PLAN-START-DATE in the above screen print it is there but the compilation gives error saying not declared. could you please advise . Hi –   Does RM/COBOL supports any performance analysis tool something like Marco4 FreezeFrame for Z/OS Cobol.   Such  tool did a sampling of currently running process. Record various parameter like memory usage, input-output operations by each programs in current running process, etc.    #RMCOBOL

I am executing the RM/COBOL but it is presenting me with a problem in the execution:  I can send you the images by mail, but it is related to the following message: Cannot start the RM/COBOL runtime. A Windows COM error occurred: Class not registered (the code is 80040154). To resolve this problem reinstall the RM/COBOL runtime, or register the RM/COBOL runtime with the RUNCOBOL /REGSERVER command. Then a window appears displaying this message Server "rmcbl12r.dll automatic registration failed: The specified module could not be found. I have a COBOL program that reads from an ISAM file. For few of the records in this file, a field (say FIELD123) has extended ASCII characters along with ASCII characters (example - 410090¶). When I try to write the record in the output sequential file with extended ASCII character, then the program fails. In order to confirm if this was the issue, I moved spaces to FIELD123 and then tried to write the record. This time the program did not fail.  I need your help with below activities: # How to identify extended ASCII characters? # If there is extended ASCII character in a field, then replace only the extended ASCII character with space but retain the ASCII value from the field Thank you!!

Hi - I have below situation:- Pgm1 [Rm/Cobol] -- > Pgm2 [RM/Cobol] calls API using CALL SYSTEM [curl]. Pgm1 run continuously 24*7[with weekly break of 5 min].    Observation 1. Initially Pgm2 takes very less time. [after restarting Pgm1] 2. With time, Pgm2 execution time keep on increasing. 3. Again, If Pgm1 is restarted then Pgm2 execution time reduces then again start increasing with time. Is there some caching happening ? Is there way I can avoid this situation where need not to restart Pgm1 to reduce Pgm2 execution time? #curl#RMCOBOL

Due to an equipment update I have to reinstall my RM/COBOL85, I have the installation package and the .lic files. I get the activation code from the web but when loading it in the installation it gives me the following error. Problem: Why do I need an Activation Code? Resolution: Many of our products require an activation code when installed more than 6 months after purchase. Normally, this code is retrieved automatically if the system can connect with activate.liant.com. However, all Evaluation versions require an activation code that must be obtained manually. If the system cannot retrieve a valid code automatically, the LSRV: number, serial/registration number, a list of 4 four letter words known as a "machine digest", and a message directing you to obtain the activation code manually  will display.   To obtain the activation code, bring up your browser and enter "activate.liant.com" (without the quotes). Problem: How can I read and write using a serial port with RM/COBOL in Windows? Resolution: COM port communication uses the normal file access method as demonstrated by the attached sample programs. The COMTEST sample program writes via an open output; COMREAD is used to get input. You must check the equipment on the other end to make sure it is configured to accept both input and output  from the COM port. Make sure to check any cabling requirements the device may have. This is essential, as there are many types of cables and different pin configurations. There are straight through cables and Null Modem cables, and no doubt many others. You need to be sure that the cable pin-outs are correct for the device. Hello everyone. Hope all is good. I am currently have a issue with writing record to "history.dat" and it is giving me an error of "9/" The program has been working fine for the last 15 years however last month when trying to update/write to the history.dat file it is giving me an error. I was able to resolve the problem by going into Net Express and performing the "Fix File Index".  That resolve the issue and I was able to update the history.dat file.  Moving forward to today, when trying to update the history.dat file I was getting the same error so I did what I tried before to get it to work however am unsuccessful even though Net Express say that the "Rebuild successful. Records Processed = 73216. I'm not sure what is going on and hope someone can shed some light into this issue. I'm determined that it is something to do with the index file. Some more information: The file information: history.dat   =  25,169

On Windows 2019 in a domain environment, the user logs out of their computer session does the cobol session end with all files closing out?  On RM/cobol version 12.17.   More info - the user Remote Desktops into the 2019 server, logs into the server using their AD login creds.  then, while the cobol session is up, logs out of the computer, but does not end the cobol application. thanks, Jim

Hi, Is it possible to copy and past a string from a program Windows to a field in a running RMcobol program ?  Example : I have a name on a page of a word processor, I select it and use ctrl+c, I recall my cobol program and I select ctr+v on the input field of my cobol program....... Someone tried it or there is a way to do it ?
