Hello, I had to restore fully restore a server running RM/COBOL, I have looked at the different KB articles regarding error 508 which seems to be an unauthorized copy. This is on server 2003. Also when I attempt to launch the program it returns with a terminated error code 250.
/cobol/rmcobol/w/wikiid-123/25102/how-do-i-resolve-error-invoking-unauthorized-copy-loc-508-on-windows-vista-and-above
/cobol/rmcobol/w/wikiid-123/17809/how-do-i-manually-install-the-rm-cobol-use-count-service-on-vista (I don't even see the rmucs in the installation directory, I have rmucutil.exe which shows 0 users using it in the runtime details)
As this program was installed well before my time, I have tried everything in the documentation I have found on the forums with no luck.
I take it you didn't do a reinstall -- that would create the service.
For v12, the use-counting service is named RMUCS12.EXE and it should be here:
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Common Files\\Micro Focus Shared\\RM\\rmucs12.exe
If the "Micro Focus" directory doesn't exist, look in "Common Files\\Liant Shared". This service is used by multiple products, so it's placed in "Common Files" instead of the installation directory.
Try running that with the -install option as an administrator.
I'll forward this to get the KB articles updated.

In C:\\Program Files\\common files I have Liant Shared with only two DLLs in it rmcbl12c.dll and rmcbl12r.dll

Try searching your system for RMUCS*.EXE. I suppose it's also possible that it was running from your network.

I have searched the servers and network for RMUCS*.EXE to no avail, this was a full system state restore so everything should have been there as it was in the past. Is there a way to get this file somewhere?
