This article describes how to enable Windows XP and Vista themes.

Problem:

WOW Extensions has a default look and feel based upon Windows 98 controls. This can make an application developed using WOW Extensions to look quite dated.

Resolution:

Windows XP and Vista interface provides a more modern look and feel, i.e. themes. You can enable the theme support by simply replacing the existing wowmfcrt.dll with the one attached in this article.

Note: Theme support has been provided via Microsoft’s manifest technique. This technique has some known problems with redrawing certain controls and container controls. It is highly recommended to backup your existing wowmfcrt.dll and aggressively test your application to ensure that the interface behaves as you expect, changes may be required to provide workarounds for unwanted behavior.

Theme support is provided “as is”. This DLL is only suitable for version 12.
