Problem:

When you execute either the slicexsy utility, or, a COBOL program that implements XML Extensions, you receive an XML error: 12 - data item - not found.

Resolution:

The XML Extensions error 12 indicates that the COBOL program was compiled by an RM/COBOL Development System that did not have an XML Extensions Developer's license installed. In order to compile programs that employ XML Extensions, you have to install an XML Extensions Development license into your RM/COBOL Development System license vault.

You can check the installed licenses for your RM/COBOL Development System by using the following command, executed from the "SupportTools" subdirectory of your RM/COBOL Development System installation:

suptool1 productview

If you do not see your XML Extensions license in the list generated by the "suptool1 productview" command, then, you can install your XML Extensions Developer license using the Liant License Utility(licverifyall).  Below is a link to the Liant License Utility download, and instructions:
