No ... you can use the newacct executable at the OS command prompt to create a new account. Simply create or position yourself in the directory to become an account and enter the command newacct. Below is an example of creating a new unidata account in unix, the same works for windows. On the newer releases of UniData an entry is also automatically added into the UD.ACCOUNT file in the sys account, which allows you to do 'LOGTO dougsacc' without having to do any of the old tricks in UniData bringing it inline with UniVerse.

# mkdir dougsacc
# cd dougsacc
# pwd
/disk2/accounts/ud/dougsacc
# newacct
The UDTHOME for this account is /disk1/ud82/.
Do you want to continue(y/n)? y
Current directory is '/disk2/accounts/ud/dougsacc'

adm guest lp paul2 srvproxy u2guest uvadm
bin idsldap lpd pconsole sshd u2user
