It has become unacceptable to expect or enforce the need for a manual authorization at the end of installation or upgrade.

With the  latest release of UniVerse we have also published a tech note article that covers a  Python script to Automatically License / Authorise / Authorize UniVerse and UniData.

Search our knowledge for 'How-to-Automatically-Licence-Authorise-UniVerse-and-UniData' or article number '000054994'.

Any updates I make to the script between releases will be done via the technote.

I hope you find it useful.

Hi Jonathan,

By the way, do you known if Rocket/Tools can provide a script like these to activate 'SBXA Server' ?

Hi Manu,

I looked into this and although it is not impossible to do it does come with a lot of challenges. The UV / UD script uses the licence commands that are in the bin directory and can be run from the command prompt. One of the main reasons for writing the script was to be able to licence UV or UD when UV or UD are not running.

To complete the SB Licencing, you need UV or UD to be running and you need to be logged into the SB , there isn't a single executable that can be run to do it. So it is not impossible but not currently on my radar to do this for SB because of the overhead of the pre-reqs.

Thanks,

Hi Jonathan,

Sure, we need to by into SBXA Server session - then let's do it from within a SB session ... .

Basic can perfom SOAP request ...

then SBXA team can provide a extension to licensing process LICENCE.AMEND and perform the request to get the activation code.
So easy.

Maybe someday...

With kind regards.

This would be something for SBXA team to do, in principal yes it's simple and I already a Basic program that does what the python script does (in fact I modelled the python script on the Basic Program). You should submit a enhancement request to the SBXA team for them to do this.
