How do you create a Universe account running on RedHat Linux

I have never had to do any administration and now It has come to my way. Most of my experience is on Unidata as a programmer, with no admin responsibilities. Now I need to do some admin and It starts with creating an account.  How do you do this in Universe on RedHat?

Hi Gary,
Entering 'uv' (or full path to uvhome/bin/uv) in an empty directory will allow you to create an account based on the flavor you choose.

[root@dentrp morrisn]# mkdir testacct
[root@dentrp morrisn]# cd testacct
[root@dentrp testacct]# uv
This directory is not set up for uniVerse.
Would you like to set it up (Y/N)?Y
0. Ideal UniVerse compatibility
1. IN2 compatibility
2. Prime Information compatibility
3. PICK compatibility
4. PI/open compatibility
5. Microdata Reality compatibility


Which way do you wish to configure your VOC ?
Your VOC is configured for Ideal UniVerse compatibility
Creating file "VOC" as Type 17, Modulo 47, Separation 4.
Creating file "D_VOC" as Type 12, Modulo 3, Separation 2.
Loading your "VOC" file. (Each "*" = 10 records.)

another option is u2 extensible administration tool (a gui to allow you to do all kind of ud admin "stuff")





as you can see from below it makes it trivial to create an account.



running uv from the uv account works well this is just another option for you to consider

Where an application suite has a large number of accounts involved, I have found it useful to use a shell script that creates accounts driven from an input text parameter file of directory paths - whether absolute or relative,
