One of my customers has a phantom named "SLEEPY" that runs continuously
making nightly backups, processing transactions from a Fuelmaster pump
system and producing some daily reports. Currently we start SLEEPY
manually from the Centos 8 console as "root" after each startup;
UniVerse 11.3.4. I would like to automate his start as part of the boot
process. I think I understand the .rc command to start the UniVerse
session but I'm uncertain about getting it started as "root", spawning
the phantom and then logging out. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Dale,

Instead of modifying the UniVerse start up scripts, another option to look at is use the OS crontab functionality for the root user. You could use that to run a checking process that runs every hour to see if the phantom process is running and then start the process from the crontab.
