In MvBase, there was a TCL command called “FIND”.

This was a great utility. It allowed you locate a string in every record in the specific file.

It would then give the user the chance to save the found record ID’s to a select list

Is there are equivalent function or add-on in UniVerse?

SEARCH is the equivalent in Universe.

As I understand it, SEARCH does not include @ID’s in the search.  We had a FIND program I used all the time on Unidata which did include them in the search.  I tried creating a FIND program on Universe, however, I was unable to use FORMLIST to create an active list (list 0) like I can in Unidata.

Cheers,

In UniData we have ESEARCH  … But if you look in the knowledge base for my article called ‘Expanding on UniVerse and UniData ESEARCH Tool to use Python Based RegEx Search’ you will a far more powerful search tool using the power of python searching as well.
