Hi Guys.

I've got an audit job that should be run periodically, but it failed yesterday and the only explanation i can think of its hit the maximum number of rows that are allowed in a holdfile

spent a while searching for the magic number but can't find anything out in the world of Google

Its not my program so can't amend the select, it selects the whole file and one of its functions is to record what was there, before it tidies up and deletes the records, i don't really need the holdfile, but the author thinks it useful

i manually assign a holdfile at the start of the job and its previously worked fine, the last time it ran it  had 1.3M rows went into the holdfile perfect well

yesterday the job stopped with  1541766 ROWS

I've asked the provider to add a date select into the job, but in the mean time if "collective" can let me know if i've hit  the limit for a holdfile, that would eliminate one possible cause of the failure

Many thanks

Andy

Hi Andrew,

I think you hit the 2gb limit (32bit file size).

Thanks Manu,

the holdfile was only 190MB, so don't think its the 2GB limit

Thanks

What error message did the process give when it failed?

How about in the errorlog file, assuming this is UniVerse?  I'm not sure what the equivalent is in UniData.

If it's a unix-based system the file is errlog and it sits in the UV home directory.  Windows systems I'm not so sure about.

Thanks Brian,

its a Windows Server, and there is nothing obvious in any of the Windows Event logs

Can't see anything useful in the U2 Extensible Admin Manager either

Thanks

Out in Windows, in the directory path where the UV account resides, there should be a file called errlog (unless it doesn't get auto-created in a Windows installation).
