Select which editor by @logname

Im trying to create a program that will call the AE command for me when typing 'ED' at TCL, but will leave anyone else in the 'ed' editor. 

I got that to work pretty easily but not sure how to make it work for a second level - such as after a select. 

Suggestions anyone? I don't want to give up my AE! But remembering to not type 'ED' isnt likely after 37 years! Last place we just all used AE so we replaced ED with AE, can't do that here :(

Hey Kathleen,

Try this. Create a program, I called mine SWITCH.EDITOR, compile and catalog.

Then copy the ED VOC to ED2.
Then create a new VOC called ED which is a remote command:

In SWITCH.EDITOR, you can add a CRT "Using AE" after LINE 3 just to let you know you're actually using AE if you like.

Hi Harry, thanks for the assist.

Your code is almost identical to what I had already tried, except I did an execute and you did a chain...which does make more sense and I will try it but, I don't know what an 'R' type dict item is?!?! That piece did not work and told me 'incorrect voc entry'

Go to the Universe Guide for Pick Users and go to pages 3-8 through 3-10 and it will tell you what the R type is and how to use it.

Do LISTR at TCL to see if you have any R type VOC items on your system and how they're done.  You might have to have your system type set differently or something if it's not working for you.
