Trying to get into a running program with the control-C and choosing "D" generates a segment fault.

My Universe 11.4.1 system started doing this today. If I'm in a running program and hit Ctl-C I get the break option menu. If I select "D" I get this:

Break: Option (A,C,L,Q,D,?) =D
Abnormal termination of UniVerse.
Fault type is 11.  Layer type is BASIC run machine.
Fault occurred in BASIC program GET.PY.FILE at address 8

It happens with every program. If I start the program with RAID instead of RUN it works. It wasn't doing this yesterday and I've rebooted the system but that didn't affect it.

Does anyone have any idea where to look to fix it?

Hi Joe,

A fix to a RAID issue at the 11.4.1 introduced the problem noted below. It has been fixed and is available in the 11.4.1.1002 release. I'm assuming that your 11.4.1 version is not at the 1002 build level (uv -buildno)? If not, installing the 11.4.1.1002 release should resolve this problem.

UNV-34622 Beginning with 11.4.1, using the break key to enter the debugger on a running program
would terminate the process. After hitting the break key and entering 'D' to drop into
the debugger, the process would terminate unexpectedly and generate a core file. This
issue has been resolved in the current release.

Thanks,

Neil

Hi Neil,

It makes me very happy that it's a known problem with a fix!!!

I downloaded and installed this version from the RBC website on Monday.  How long has this patch been available and where is it? I went back to check and I don't see the build number anywhere.

Is there any way you can send me the download instructions for build 1002?

Thanks again!

Hi Joe,

The hotfix releases do not show by default on the PAM. However, for the GA 11.4.1 release (and all other GA releases)  there is an Available Hotfixes link. If you click on that link it will describe all Hotfix releases available and the contents of each release. The document also explains how to obtain the hotfix release. Essentially, you would enter the specific release number (i.e. 11.4.1.1002) in the "Also view controlled release" box. Hopefully that answers your question. If not, let me know.

Thanks,

Neil

Hi Neil,

I can't find a link to hot fixes anywhere. I've gone to the page where I downloaded the software but I don't see anything there. I've even done a google search of the RBC website for hot fixes and got nothing. Can you send me the link or instructions on how to get to it?

Thanks.

Hi  Joe,

Are you able to get to the Product Availability Matrix (PAM) on RBC? I guess I'm not entirely sure what you are able to view. I included an example below for the 11.4.1 Release on Linux. I have also included text from the Available Hotfixes document describing the process.

Hotfixes are identified as "Controlled Releases" within Rocket Business Connect (RBC). Hotfixes are
only visible by searching for the specific version and build number in the Controlled Release field.
To obtain a specific Hotfix:
1. Log into the RBC system and modify your existing license.
2. Click Edit next to your existing product, and then click Search to view the list of GA product
releases.
3. After the product availability matrix displays, enter the Hotfix version number (which includes the
product version and build number, for example 11.3.1.6005) in the Controlled Release field just
above the table of product releases.
4. Click Search.
The Hotfix release will display on the product matrix, and can be selected for ordering and download.
If you have questions about RBC, please contact us at U2Support@rocketsoftware.com.

If this doesn't work for you, I will need to check with others more familiar with the customer interface.

Thanks,

Neil

Okay, I was able to get to the page that shows the hot fix but there's no download link. It says it's controlled:
