Unidata 8.2.1hf6 (RHEL) Changing VFIELDSIZE

Is there a way to get Unidata to respect a change to VFIELDSIZE without a
restart? I have the setting being exported in a profile.d script and it's
set on interactive logins, but Unidata doesn't seem to want to respect the
change.

Please note that for client-server connections that use RPC - e.g. ODBC/JDBC and UniObjects - then the RPC service will require a restart to pick up any change for new connections. Hopefully this helps.
