Hello! Unidata 8.2.3 on Windows 2019. Im using putty and cmd and when i attempt to do a LIST on anything it will output results with the prompt "press enter to continue" once i do that it removes the results it just gave me and outputs the next 10 results or so until the LIST is complete. Im hoping there is a setting that would make it so that it would NOT remove the results in the LIST so that i could scroll up and see all results. any ideas on this?

Try using Shift-PageUp / Shift-PageDown for pages and also Control-PageUp / Control-PageDown for a line at a time. See
https://documentation.help/PuTTY/using-scrollback.html
Otherwise you can download the free U2 Clients suite from rbc.rocketsoftware.com and load Dynamic Connect from the packages included. This provides full VT100 support and the backpages you are looking for,

I have this question too - after many years on AIX, HPUX and Linux, just did a project with Unidata 8.2.3 on Windows last year and could not get terminal handling with Windows SSH or OpenSSH and Putty to work correctly. Ended up using the built-in secure telnet provided by Unidata and a terminal emulator (SecureCRT) that supports that (luckily the customer was already using SecureCRT). VT100 screen handling was perfect with that combination, though telnets/992 was a pain to setup. There were various display glitches that made SSH unusable - screens not clearing, cursor positioning not working reliably, "overlaying" where updates on the screen mixed with previous data.
If anyone has run into this and has a fix, it will be greatly appreciated by dozens of us!

@John Baker is terms of your question in specifying which directory you initially connected to in UniData, you can do this by changing the 'startup directory' for a Users in the UniData Telnet Server Configuration. When you first install UniData there is only entry called DEFAULT which points to the demo directory. You can change this or add enteries for specfic users to start in different directorys. You can access this via the XAdmin menus, or using running the telnetcfg.exe tool from the UniData bin directory. If you need some details on this, it is covered in the UniData Admin manuals.
