UniData and .NET for Windows

Good Afternoon Everyone!

We are in the midst of upgrading to UniData 8.2 from UniData 6.0, SB+ 5.2.3 to SB/AX 5.5.4. My coworker and I are trying to use the .NET processing to connect to various processes/databases and seems like we are running into "potholes" or "walls".

I have downloaded the U2 Clients And APIs UniObjects for .NET Developer Guide version 5.2.1 and the U2 Toolkit for .NET User Guide version 2.2.3.

My questions are the following:

Has anyone else experienced issue like this that can share with us?
Is there other PDFs/documentation out there that we can look at?

Any feedback will be welcomed.

Grant,

It's going to be difficult to provide you exact advice as you have not provided any description of the 'potholes' or 'walls'.

There a lot of examples in the knowledge base around these subjects and one of our team has also recorded a lot of videos on the subject on YouTube. Once you've logged in the Rocket Community Page, click on the 'Knowledge' tab and you'll have access to the 'Knowledge Base'

For example search on "u2 toolkit" in YouTube and you'll find some of the videos I was referring to.

I use U2TK, but I'm a point version behind you. It works fine for me. The documentation isn't great, but if you have a specific issue, post up and maybe I can help.

When installing U2 Toolkit client, it will come with documentation and sample codes. For another UniObjects for .NET client, the u2_clients_uniobjects_net_dev_guide_V521.pdf documentation is part of U2 Clients Doc.

Yes but -- the samples & docs are not always where you'd think they should be. Heads up, if you changed the default install location the samples + DB provider are installed elsewhere, not the install dir.

The location:

C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Rocket Software\\U2 Toolkit for .NET\\U2 Database Provider\\samples

I went through a similar process over the past little bit going from UV10.2.3 to UV11.x and SB+5.2.3 to SB/XA (went from GUI to XUI)

First issue I can recall was making sure to NOT import SB commons in BASIC programs which are called from U2/UniObjects.NET apps

I think the U2 .NET APIs are pretty well documented and are generally idiomatic to use.

When the users need to set up some server environments via U2/UniObjects.NET apps, it can call the UOLOGIN subroutine if it does exist. The users can create a UOLOGIN subroutine and catalog it globally on UniVerse. It will work with local and global catalog on UniData.

Morning Everyone,

I apologize for the delay response, but I do want to thank everyone who contribute to my posting. I have a sneaky suspicion that our versions of UniData and SB/XA was not quite install correctly.

Having stated this, I will be in discussion with my immediate supervisor and my co-workers on this very subject later in the day or tomorrow.

I will try to gather more information from my co-workers on what they are seeing from their side. Some of the information given to me was obviously not complete.
