Hi guys,
We are seeing some strange behaviour on a Unidata/Windows site where SELECT commands that are run from a phantom process take a huge amount of time to run immediately following a server reboot. But if the same SELECT command is run from an SBClient session it runs fine (taking just a few seconds). This issue seems to last for a couple of hours after the reboot as though the server is doing something triggered by the reboot but it only seems to affect the phantom process.
The customer assures us that the anti-virus has the Unidata files excluded.
Unidata edition is server version 8.2.1
Windows is Windows server 2016 standard
Has anyone seen anything like this?
Many thanks
Barry Green

Hi
We run the same trouble with uv phantom started from a windows ScheduledTask.
By default, windows schedule task runs with minor priority.
You can change it by exporting it as xml, update the priority then reload the SchedukedTask.
I hope this help

Barry,
To add on to Manu's comment, if you are using Linux on the backend, check out the nice & renice commands to set priority for your phantom process.

Could it be a disk cache loading behavior with an empty cache after booting? Running at a lower priority, it may take extended elapsed time to bring the file into the disk cache.
As an experiment, try SELECTing the file at a command prompt first.

HI Mark,
That was our thinking too but the same SELECT command when run from TCL is fine, it just seems to affect the phantom process.

$mytask = "mytask"
$t = Get-ScheduledTask -Taskname "$mytask"
